 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Here are the answers to the most commonly asked questions.  If your concern or question is not listed or answered here, please email us at Info@discovertransformations.com. we are happy  to answer any and all of your questions regarding Hypnosis, life coaching and NLP.

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural and normal state of the mind in which the body experiences a state of deep physical relaxation while the mind remains clear, alert and focussed.  This is similar to the brain wave pattern as when we day-dream or get engrossed in reading a book or watching a movie.  In this altered state of awareness, the sub-conscious (or inner) mind becomes accessible for suggestions of positive change.

How can I tell when I’m hypnotized?

Don’t expect to be a willing obedient slave who clucks like a chicken.  Expect to feel great, to feel relaxed, to experience different sensations such as your limbs feeling heavy or light whilst your mind is clear and focussed.

 Can anyone be hypnotized?

Yes, if you can follow instructions, you can be hypnotised.  The better one can concentrate and focus the easier it is to go into the hypnotic trance. Most important:  above all, the person must be willing to be hypnotised, no-one can be hypnotised who does not wish to be hypnotised.

Will I be asleep or will I know what is going on around me?

Although to someone else you may look like you are sleeping as your body is so relaxed because you are in a state of deep physical relaxation.  You are completely awake and aware of your surroundings. You hear everything.  Since your senses are magnified 10 times, you are actually more alert and aware in hypnosis than you are in the normal waking state.

How does the Hypnotist put someone into trance?

It is important to understand that all hypnosis is self hypnosis. The hypnotist guides and directs the client into the hypnotic state by using certain words and phrases that the unconscious mind understands along with various techniques like deep breathing, imagery or tone of voice.

 Is hypnosis dangerous?

No, it is a natural state of mind utilised for positive change from negative habits or behaviours. Any suggestions that are not within your values, morals or beliefs will be rejected by your subconscious mind. Hypnosis is not mind control and you will not do or say anything that you would not normally do.  You will always remain in control and alert through the whole session.

How much will I remember of what was said?

Most people remember everything that went on in the hypnosis session.  Sometimes, if you go into a particularly deep state, you may forget some things.  Sometimes it is beneficial as part of the hypnosis session and the hypnotist may suggest for the client to forget.  This is so the conscious (or analytical part of your mind) mind does not get in the way of making the positive change now.

 How deep will I go?

It is not important how deep you go, whether it is a light trance or a deep trance.  Therapeutic change can even occur without the trance induction, when the client is ready for change this message is relayed to the unconscious mind where all change occurs, change can also occur through life coaching and there is also a branch of hypnosis that does not formally induce a client into trance through Conversational Hypnosis. What’s known as Milton H. Erickson hypnosis.

Is there a guarantee that hypnosis will work for me?  Will I get my outcomes?

Yes – You can be hypnotised and get your outcomes that you desire.  However, there is no money back guarantee. As long as you are committed and attend on your own free will (not because a family member or boss forced you) and you are  prepared to accept all the positive suggestions provided you will experience positive change.

Some situations are remedied faster than others eg clients become a non-smoker within 1-2 sessions, however, if you have a lot of weight to lose this will take time.  We develop an agreed action plan and realistic timeframes for your outcomes.

How many sessions will I require?

Each client is treated individually.  However, we do have a general outline as follows:

Quit Smoking:  2 sessions.  It doesn’t matter how long or how many you have been smoking, if you are ready to be a non-smoker for the rest of your life, you will be successful without the old urges or cravings.  From time to time we run 2 hour group quit smoking sessions at a discounted rate, email us for more information.

Weight Loss: 5 sessions.  I do a inside out program or what I call a synergistic approach  for this, because this is the best way to get rid of your unwanted fat for good. ( please look in the weight loss section for more information on this ground breaking way to lose weight)

Fears: 2-3  sessions.  This includes fear responses and blocks for sports performance, fear of flying, fear of snakes, fear of water, fear of heights, Fear of Spiders, Fear of Failure, Fear of Success, Fear of Sex, Fear of Dentists, Fear of Taking Tests, Fear of Tight Spaces, Fear of Public Speaking, Fear of Crossing Bridge. These are just a few things that can be achieved with hypnosis.

Overcoming Addictions or Habits:  3 sessions.  This includes binge drinking, drugs, food addictions, nail biting, cannabis, gambling, bed wetting, grinding teeth, anger, lying and so much more.  Some of these things you must have a doctors referral.

Looking forward to meeting and working with you soon.

 Warmly,
